Year Five and More Essential than Ever: Join the Movement this Spring 2026!

We couldn’t be happier to reach spring and with it, the fifth year of the Essentials Fund! After an incredibly long, cold, snowy winter with the heaviest news breaking seemingly daily, The Essentials Fund spring campaign offers a great way to give back directly to our community in a way that makes a real difference for the organizations and the people they serve every day – just the thing my soul needs these days!

Five years ago, a small group of us came together with an idea. We wanted organizations to be able to provide the things that their clients needed – bus tickets, menstrual and personal hygiene products, and more – but that funders often didn’t have grants available to support. We wanted it to be easy: simple application process, minimal reporting requirements, and maximum flexibility.

We didn’t know if it would work. Would people give? Would community members and organizations trust us? Would we raise enough for it to make a difference?

Five years later, we can confidently say it has not only worked but gone beyond anything we initially expected. We’ve raised and distributed nearly $200,000, from the community and for the community. We’ve supported organizations in providing true essentials for their clients.

The Essentials Fund has raised and distributed nearly $200,000, from the community and for the community.

And when we say “we”, we mean YOU. You made this possible. There is no Essentials Fund without the generous donations and trust from community members, who believed what we believed, who saw what we saw, and who stood up to fill the gap.

Five years later, it is more essential than ever. Post-COVID austerity is here, and with it the tightening of budgets, the loss of formerly “safe” grants and core funding, and as a result, organizations are facing tough decisions about how they can support their clients in the ways that they need.

The community needs you. The Essentials Fund is here to bridge the gap and get organizations flexible funds so they can direct it straight to the necessities for their most vulnerable clients.

Let’s do this. Let’s show the community how much we care and make this our best year yet!
