Spring fundraising campaign focuses on providing unrestricted grants to Waterloo Region non-profits to support their clients’ essential needs.
The Essentials Fund is marking the first day of Spring with the launch of our third annual awareness and fundraising campaign! With the goal to assist Waterloo Region non-profits’ support their clients’ essential needs, The Essentials Fund provides an unrestricted grant which allows for the flexibility to purchase exactly what they need, when the items are needed. Launched in 2022, The Essentials Fund has provided over $77,000 to 22 local community organizations in Waterloo Region.
“The large number of organizations requesting funding to provide essential items like basic toiletries, bus tickets, proper clothing and footwear, menstrual products, baby diapers and formula, for example, confirmed our belief there is great need to support these vital organizations providing much needed services and programming to our most vulnerable community members.”

“The large number of organizations requesting funding to provide essential items like basic toiletries, bus tickets, proper clothing and footwear, menstrual products, baby diapers and formula, for example, confirmed our belief there is great need to support these vital organizations providing much needed services and programming to our most vulnerable community members. Given the constant rising cost of most everything including these essential items, our committee recognizes the importance of this year’s fundraising campaign and the need to continue to highlight this support is urgently needed throughout our community.,” said Jane Arnold.
Allyson Kroetsch added “The success of The Essentials Fund is dependent on the generosity of community members. We are so thankful for the financial support we have received during the last two years during the fundraising campaign and hope to build on that generosity this year. We encourage workplaces, friends, family, and community groups to think of creative ways they can work together to raise funds and awareness for The Fund. The grantee organizations have shared with us their appreciation and the impact of the unrestricted grant on their ability to support their clients.”
