“In my political life, I often had to make decisions on grants to various types of organizations including, arts and cultural groups, social agencies and heritage property owners. The grant programs were always beneficial but by nature highly prescriptive as to how the money must be spent.
“I heard so often particularly from from the social agencies how they had so many unmet needs outside the usual prescriptive grant program.
“After my political retirement my involvement with The Essentials Fund was easy to decide. Not only did it fill some of my new found time but it addressed exactly what I had heard so often; a need for unrestricted funding to deal with the essential needs of program participants that put people in the position of achieving success in their journey.
“The Essentials Fund does exactly that. It provides these agencies with unrestricted funding to provide ‘essential’ products and services that is ‘essential’ in clients achieving success.”
